Brickwork is what gives a garden its structure: boundary and garden walls, gate piers, raised beds, steps and the walls that hold a terrace in place. Done well it looks like it has always been there.
It starts below ground. Walls are built off a foundation sized for the height and the ground, laid to line and level with consistent joints, and finished with a coping that throws water clear of the face. We also repoint and repair: failed mortar joints let water into the wall, and in a coastal climate that is what starts the frost damage. Raking out and repointing is far cheaper than rebuilding.
